Tossen

Tossing is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a casual recreational game with other members. You arrive at the court and are then paired more or less randomly with others into a mixed doubles or doubles team. You play a 45-minute round (30 minutes on Monday and Wednesday mornings), after which the pairs are reformed for the next round.

The course stewards do not take requests, but they do look at the enjoyment of the game. In the event of a large turnout, players may be turned in, or fate may decide that you have to skip a round.

Afterwards, of course, you can chat to your heart's content on the terrace with coffee or another drink.

Toss moments

Every week from early April to the end of October, there are various toss opportunities:

  • Monday morning (men) from 09:30 (walk-in from 09:00) to 11:00, three rounds of 30 minutes.
  • Monday morning (women) from 11:00 to 12:00
  • Monday evening (mixed) from 19:00* to 22:00, four rounds of 45 minutes.
  • Wednesday morning (women) from 10:00 to 11:30. Four rounds of 30 minutes are played.
  • Thursday afternoon (men) from 14:00 to 15:30
  • Friday evening (mixed, Americano) from 7:30 PM* to 9:00 PM.

Please ensure you are present 10 minutes before the start of the round. The first round will be scheduled in random order starting at 18:50. You may arrive earlier, of course, but this does not increase your chances of being assigned.

New game - Americano

In addition to the toss on Monday morning, Monday evening, and Wednesday morning, a new form of organized group play is being introduced on Friday evening: Americano. This starts at 19:30 and lasts 90 minutes until 21:00. If successful, this may be extended.

How does Americano work?

The courts are automatically assigned based on player level. Each round is played with four or five people per court. You play a short match with each of the other (three or four) players. With five players, you are off the court for one match (on average slightly less than 12 minutes).

The players with the most points move up a lane, the players with the fewest points move down a lane, and the remaining players stay on the same lane.

To sign up and register for the matches, the Clubmatch app is required https://sportconnexions.com/nl/ (the app we also use for our ladder matches). You sign up in this app, and during the event, you enter the results.

Naturally, we are here to explain the system and help with the registration where necessary. Questions can also be sent to americano@ltcstartbaan.nl

During the toss sessions, there are always a few courts available for reservation. Always consult with the court steward on duty if you wish to play on a court that is reserved for the toss but is free.

There is no toss on Easter Monday, Whit Monday, during the Open Startbaan Tournament, and during the Club Championships (in the evening).
