Dick Hulst trophy

The Dick Hulst Trophy is presented annually at the New Year's reception. This is an award for the volunteer who has rendered outstanding service to the association over the past year. Often, this volunteer has dedicated themselves to LTC Startbaan for many years.

The trophy was established in November 2007 upon the resignation of Dick Hulst as chairman. Dick became a member as early as 1971, the founding year of the association. Dick served as chairman of the association during two different periods: from 1977 to 1981 and from 1997 to 2006. That is a total of no less than thirteen years.

In addition, Dick was one of the founders of the Open Startbaan. During various periods, Dick performed significant duties related to it, ranging from tournament director to active member of the organization and securing major sponsors.

Outside the association, Dick has been active as chairman of the Amsterdam tennis district. After personally working hard on the merger of the Amsterdam and IJmond tennis districts, he subsequently also became chairman of the IJmond district.

Because of all these merits, Dick is both an honorary member of the LTC Startbaan association and honorary chairman of the district.

Yolanda Steenbruggen winner of the Dick Hulst trophy

On Opening Day, March 29, Yolanda Steenbruggen won the Dick Hulst Trophy, the award for Volunteer of the Year. Yolanda has been handling the membership administration since November 2020. As such, she is often the first point of contact for new members. Her friendly and helpful approach has certainly contributed to the growth of the association in recent years.

Maintaining all the data for more than a thousand members is a huge task. This also requires being well-versed in the KNLTB's many computer systems. Yolanda also handles many matters very proactively. Some of Yolanda's notable achievements include managing the challenging administration during the COVID-19 pandemic, rectifying a KNLTB blunder twice that resulted in hundreds of people suddenly being deregistered, ensuring the perfect registration of Certificates of Conduct (VOGs) for volunteers, designing a welcome booklet for new members, and training other volunteers on the computer systems.

Yolanda is an indispensable link in the association, for which we are very grateful.
