The Hawk-eye of Patagonias

Nuria van Patagonias

How is it?

I am Nuria, 50 years old and married to Ferdinand (55) in 2003. I was born and raised in Argentina. No children, but the sweetest uncle and aunt for many. Once started studying economics. Not finished but left for the Netherlands in 2003 because of love. Immediately to Amstelveen to live in the Elsrijk district. I got to know the language, the culture and the people by working in different shops. We speak Spanish at home, but Dutch at work. I grew up in my uncle's bakery in Buenos Aires, the city where I returned for a short time to learn the traditional way of making ice cream. I started my business in the garage and then delivered the ice creams and ice cream cakes. A precursor to home delivery. We now have a branch in the Johannus Calvijnstraat (side street Lindenlaan) and since 2020 in a prominent place in the Stadshart, so that we can make even more people from the region happy with our artisanal ice cream.

What do you have with sports and tennis?

Not very much, but I used to play volleyball and paddleboard (!). When the Netherlands had never heard of it. If I have a little more time, I might hit a ball at Park Startbaan again.

Who/what are Patagonias?

Patagonias is that part of Argentina where it can be very cold. We spent our honeymoon there and then Ferdinand and I decided to use this name for our company that was yet to be established. Patagonias actually also represents Amstelveen's dessert, using only natural products, just like in the past. Fairly prepared, without flavourings, colorings or aromas, with as little sugar as possible and always with natural ingredients. Real bananas, real strawberries, real apples and real eggs. And with little salt and as little sugar as possible. But you can also come to us for a delicious cup of coffee with artisan pastry.

Why did Patagonias choose the LTC Runway?

Your approach appealed to us. You have really thought about how you can maximize exposure for sponsors. Great value for money. And that ties in with our own philosophy. You also have a large and interesting membership base. We wanted to be “part of the community”. Be part of the community. We now notice that more and more members of LTC Startbaan are embracing us and vice versa.

What would you prefer to see your sponsorship contribution spent on?

Preferably to young people and children, because that is what we all need in the future. We are also child-friendly. Children can read books or play games in a special corner. Sometimes they take the booklets with them. Sometimes they bring new booklets. As a result, some parents don't just come to “get an ice cream”, but actually make it a fun outing.

What can Patagonias do for its members and/or vice versa?

That, as mentioned earlier, we supply a healthy product with many vitamins, little salt and many natural ingredients. In addition, we have had various (discount) promotions for LTC Startbaan members in the past and we may do so again next season. So keep a close eye on the goodie bag for one of the upcoming tournaments 😉

Finally, do you have anything to add?

We cordially invite everyone to one of our locations. This also applies to the branch in the Stadshart, located opposite Xenos. This was opened during corona times and may therefore have escaped attention. And we wish all members a wonderful anniversary year, and perhaps we will play a role in that too. Hasta pronto!
