The Hawk-eye from ASKO cleaning and business services

Marcel Bellis (ASKO)

How is it?

I am Marcel Bellis, 47 years old and the husband of Maria and father of Jan (2006) and Luuk (2001). Luuk has been a member since 2009, Maria since 2010 and Jan since 2013. I was born in Hoorn and have lived in Amstelveen (now Bovenkerk) since 1995.

What do you have with tennis and sports?

I played tennis in Hoorn at a young age, a very enjoyable period. I thought winning in singles was so cool, but I could also enjoy doing it every day in the cage against the wall. My “finest moment” was when I became club champion in my category, something you will never forget. Victories make me want more 🙂 .I have thought Federer has been the best tennis player for years. The quality he can continuously deliver is admirable. Hardly ever injured, remains calm and civilized (little emotion), a real winner. But since we sat next to Djokovic in a restaurant in Rome, we have also become fans of him, haha what fun that was and what a nice guy he is, emotions are also beautiful! In addition to tennis, I was also active in football and boxing , karate, skating and running. I still do the latter now; In any case, you can tick the “Major Six” (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York) off my bucket list.

How is ASKO?

ASKO cleaning and business services focuses on the business market. With more than 100 employees, we have been cleaning in many segments for more than 47 years, especially in the North Holland region. Think of offices, projects in the medical world, catering, daycare centers and residential complexes. We distinguish ourselves through fast communication and reliable employees. ASKO strives for long-term cooperation with customers and staff. We have been cleaning the Plan Nederland office for more than 43 years and many people have a permanent contract with us. Doing what you promise is what we stand for.

Why did ASKO choose LTC Startbaan?

As an entire family, we feel closely involved in the club and I am happy that I can do something extra in this way.

What could be done differently and/or better at our club?

LTC Startbaan is an accessible club for young and old. A lot is organized for youth and I think that is very good, especially at this time. The credits here go to all the adults who are working hard for this. I think the club is well organised, we have a good chairman and I would advise giving the youth their own “board”. The youth have good ideas and you should take their opinions seriously. The youth are already active themselves and that is very good, but they can be even more involved so that they also feel more involved. What I would also like to improve is respect and understanding for volunteers. We are on the right track, but we can do better! Our club is largely dependent on volunteers. These are the people who help ensure that we can play tennis and have fun together. I used to be able to exercise with the help of volunteers, isn't that great!

What would you prefer to see your sponsorship contribution spent on?

Our preference goes to the youth. That is also close to us. Great to see how the children at the club grow up and develop so well over the years. And then we would prefer to see the sponsorship contribution spent on performance and recreational sports.

What can ASKO do for the members and/or vice versa?

It would be nice if the members started behaving as “sympathizers”. In other words, that people keep their eyes and ears open and if, for example, a (new) choice has to be made at their own company or homeowners' association about cleaning services, they then refer us to see what we could do in that area.

Finally, do you have anything to add?

I think we have covered most of it with this. In any case, my compliments to you as the sponsorship committee. The new path is a clear improvement and provides added value to the sponsors.
